When the temperature is around 15℃, Indian tortoises enter hibernation, and when the temperature is around 10℃, they enter deep hibernation. You can place some clean sand in the water tank, just enough sand to cover the turtle's back, and keep the sand moist at all times. Throughout the hibernation period, the Indian tortoise will keep its head, tail, and limbs inside its shell, close its eyes, and will neither eat nor move.

Precautions for hibernating Indian tortoises:

1. Stop feeding the Indian tortoise for four weeks before hibernating, gradually lower the temperature and light, and take a bath once a week. Water, promotes metabolism and allows the Indian tortoise to empty its intestines and stomach.

2. Prepare a special container and put sand, small stones, etc. in it. The sand must be disinfected first. Usually it is enough to boil it in boiling water for 15 minutes. The high temperature will kill the bacteria and prevent the bacteria from invading the body during the hibernation of the Asian mountain turtle.

3. When the Indian tortoise is hibernating, the temperature should be controlled between 5 and 10 degrees, and the Indian tortoise should be well moisturized during hibernation. You can cover it with a wet towel or spray water to avoid the Indian tortoise from hibernating. Turtles die of dehydration while hibernating.
