Tortles are protected animals. There are no large-scale breeding areas in China. Individuals have no legal way to purchase tortoises and cannot keep them. It is illegal for individuals to keep them without a license.

The purchased tortoise can be handed over to the relevant department, or you can go to the relevant department to apply for a breeding certificate, otherwise it will be illegal. In addition, tortoises are completely terrestrial animals, and their physiological and ecological behaviors are different in different environments.

There are still many turtles allowed in China. Common ones include Brazilian turtles, giant snapping turtles, small snapping turtles, razor turtles, musk turtles, giant egg turtles, narrow bridge egg turtles, etc. Precautions for feeding turtles:

1. When feeding pork, beef, shrimps, small fish, livers of poultry and fish, they should be chopped or shredded.

2. The amount of food a turtle should be fed each time is generally the size of its head plus neck.

3. You need to pay attention to the feeding time. In summer, turtles have a fast metabolism and can be fed once a day. In autumn, they can be fed once every five or six days. In winter, turtles will stop eating when they start to hibernate.
