Symptoms of cat conjunctivitis:

The conjunctiva is red, swollen and congested, tearing, reluctance to open eyes, and increased eye secretions. Eye discharge may range from white mucus to yellow-green mucus. Some cats will scratch their eyes, which can further cause eye discomfort. Sneezing and runny nose sometimes occur together with eye lesions. Severe infection can cause permanent scarring of the cornea and conjunctiva, and some can affect the drainage pathway of tears, eventually leading to long-term epiphora.

Treatment methods for cat conjunctivitis:

1. Consider chlamydia for initial treatment, and the drugs of choice are tetracycline or erythromycin.

2. Cytological examination If it is bacterial infection, use broad-spectrum antibiotics.

3. When calicivirus or herpes virus infection is suspected, antiviral drugs can be used.

4. If it is caused by allergies, give antihistamines.

Causes of cat conjunctivitis:

1. Non-infectious causes: trauma, foreign bodies, entropion of the eyelids, allergies, etc.

2. Infectious causes: Herpes virus, chlamydia, inflammation of adjacent tissues such as keratitis and dacryocystitis can also cause secondary infectious conjunctivitis. Trauma, foreign bodies, and viral conjunctivitis are often secondary to bacterial infection.
