The main clinical symptoms of anorexia in dogs include: loss of appetite or loss of appetite, body weight loss, malnutrition, vomiting symptoms when forced feeding, edema, electrolyte imbalance, acid-base balance imbalance, hormone secretion imbalance in the body, etc. Severe anorexia can also cause a dog's heart function to decline, suffer shock or even die. However, it is rare to encounter anorexic dogs in clinical practice, and most of them are picky eaters.

When a dog is anorexic, it will show that it is very disinterested in food, and the speed and amount of food it eats will be significantly reduced. It only eats a little or smells the food it usually likes to eat. There are two main types of physiological anorexia and disease anorexia:

1. Physiological anorexia

Physiological anorexia is common in dogs during teething, estrus and pregnancy. Except for anorexia, there are generally no other symptoms, and the dog's spirit, body temperature, breathing, urination and defecation are also normal.

2. Diseased anorexia

If it is disease-related anorexia, then anorexia is often only an early symptom of the disease. In addition to anorexia, it is often accompanied by other symptoms, such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, cough, abdominal pain, etc. If this is the case, the owner should be more vigilant and take more precautions. It is recommended to take the dog to a pet hospital for medical treatment as soon as possible.
