There are two main methods of treatment for dog glaucoma: medication and surgery, but whether it can be cured depends on its severity. If the owner does not take the dog to the pet hospital for treatment in time, the dog is likely to become blind. Therefore, it is recommended that the owner take the dog to the pet hospital for examination in time, and then decide on the treatment method according to the condition of the dog's eyes. If necessary, surgery is required.

1. Drug treatment

1. Use hypertonic solution throughout the body to increase blood osmotic pressure to reduce aqueous humor and intraocular pressure. 20% mannitol 1-2g/kg is commonly used for intravenous injection, and 50% glycerol 1-2ml/kg can also be taken orally.

2. Use drugs that inhibit the production of aqueous humor and promote the excretion of aqueous humor. Commonly used drugs include dichlorosulfonamide 10-30mg/kg, combined with miotic drugs, such as 1%-2% pilocarpine nitrate drops. Mydriatic drugs help open the occluded chamber angle, improve aqueous humor circulation, and effectively help dogs reduce intraocular pressure.

2. Surgical treatment

If medical treatment fails to reduce intraocular pressure and restore vision, or for narrow-angle glaucoma or angle atresia, surgical treatment should be considered. Commonly used surgeries include iris incarceration, ciliary body separation, laser photocoagulation, etc.
