Guinea pigs will recognize their owners after being raised for a year. They are born with amblyopia and cannot fully see what their owners look like. They can only identify whether the person approaching is the owner through sound and smell. Therefore, it takes a long time for guinea pigs to recognize their owners. It will take a long time, usually more than half a year or even a year, before you can fully recognize your master.

How to make a guinea pig recognize its owner

1. The guinea pig that has just arrived home will be timid, so don’t rush to pick it up and touch it. You can place the cage in a place where the owner frequently moves, and change its water and feed every day.

2. When the guinea pig becomes familiar with your scent, you can try to feed it by holding the feed in your hand. If it is unwilling to eat, put the feed back into the cage and wait until it is familiar with your hand. If you try it a few times, you will get closer to it.
