Cats suffer from keratitis. If it is non-ulcerative keratitis, it needs to be treated with oral antibiotics and topical antibacterial and anti-inflammatory eye drops. If it is ulcerative keratitis, it needs to be treated with anti-inflammatory and bactericidal drugs and drugs that promote corneal growth.

The difference between cat keratitis and conjunctivitis:

1. The cat’s conjunctiva and cornea are in different locations.

2. Conjunctivitis is caused by bacterial or viral infection of the cat’s eyes due to irritation of inverted eyelashes and hair. The most common conjunctivitis is caused by infection of the nasal branch of the cat. Cats suffering from conjunctivitis will have red eyelids and excessive eye feces. The cat will scratch its eyes because of discomfort.

3. Cats suffering from keratitis are usually caused by trauma to the cat’s eyes or bacterial infection caused by foreign matter in the eyes. The surface of a cat's eyes with keratitis will appear grayish-white or cloudy. In keratitis caused by trauma, the eyes will be rough and uneven, and the corneal epithelium will also be damaged. Deep keratitis affects the deep layers of the cornea. Cats will have eyeball pain when checking their eyes, and the cornea will be cloudy and white.
