Chinchilla breeds:

1. Short-tailed chinchilla, this kind of chinchilla is very rare and has become extinct in the wild.

2. The Emperor Totoro, which is about 40cm long, is a giant chinchilla. It became extinct hundreds of years ago, and neither wild nor domesticated ones exist anymore.

3. Long-tailed chinchilla, most of the artificially bred chinchillas fall into this category, and the wild ones are almost extinct. Almost all pet chinchillas currently on the market are of this species.

Precautions for raising chinchillas:

1. Chinchillas are nocturnal animals. They lie down during the day and come out at night, and look for food at night, so pay attention to feeding young chinchillas every evening. When the cub gets up, feed it some alfalfa and chinchilla food to replenish energy.

2. To help your chinchilla grind its teeth, you can usually feed it melon seeds, dried raisins, dried fruits and other snacks to help it grind its teeth. But don’t feed too much, as it will affect the chinchilla’s gastrointestinal tract, cause diarrhea, and also cause the chinchilla to be picky about food.

3. Chinchillas are relatively sensitive to temperature. 15-23 degrees Celsius is the optimal survival temperature for chinchillas. Chinchillas are particularly afraid of heat. In summer, it is best to feed them in an air-conditioned room.
