Tortoiseshell cats are not a type of calico cat. Although they have similar patterns and colors, usually black, white, and yellow, they also have one thing in common: they are basically female cats. It is determined by the gene chromosome.

The tortoiseshell cat does not refer to the breed of cat, but is named after the color of its fur that is very similar to that of turtles. It is just a general term for cats of this color. There are only two colors that control tortoiseshell cats: yellow and black. White is not the color of the cat, but the albino gene works so that the cat's original color cannot be displayed.
