Injection is required for cat scratches. Since sick cats and dogs are common sources of infection for rabies, after being scratched by a cat, the local skin should be disinfected first, and then go to the local CDC or hospital for rabies vaccination.

After injection, it will depend on the specific conditions of the wound, and immunoglobulin will be used if necessary. If the wound is deep, you may also need an injection of tetanus antitoxin to prevent infection. If the cat is always at home and has been vaccinated against rabies on schedule, the injection is not necessary.
