Another problem with oranges is the presence of psoralens in the fruit, compounds that can make the skin extremely sensitive to sunlight. Psoralen may also cause adverse effects in humans, but in cats, the effects of psoralen are much faster. Cats are already sensitive to sunlight, and their thin skin can easily become irritated.
