How much does a Maine Coon cat weigh?

Although people talk about Maine Coon cats weighing up to 15 to 18 kilograms, these claims are often exaggerated and mostly unfounded. It is rare for Maine Coon cats to weigh more than 8.2 kilograms, and those that do are usually overweight or even obese. If a cat of any breed becomes overweight, it can suffer from a range of health problems, including joint problems, diabetes and heart strain.
Baby Maine Coon cats usually weigh about the same weight as other kittens. Because of its fluffy fur, it may look a little larger than average. By three months, the cat's weight can reach 0.9~2 kilograms, and it will continue to gain weight until it matures around 4 years old.
