Auricular hematoma refers to a disease in which a variety of triggers lead to ear cartilage damage, causing blood vessels to break and blood to enter between the skin and cartilage. Symptoms:

A tender, fluid-filled swelling in one or both ears, and the ear plug may swell like a water balloon as it may be partially or completely swollen with blood;

The extra weight of earplugs may be uncomfortable for the animal and may cause permanent changes in ear shape;

Treatment:

Small hematomas may heal on their own.

Large hematomas should be treated with cold compresses and a compression bandage to stop bleeding. It is not advisable to perform surgery too early. Surgery can only be performed a few days after the swelling has formed or when the swelling no longer increases significantly.

Laser treatment is also an option, which is gentler.

Prevention:

Prevent mechanical injuries, avoid fights with other dogs, and seek medical attention immediately if injured.
