Solutions to tonsillitis in dogs

1. First, check whether there is any foreign body in the dog’s throat. If the dog has tonsillitis caused by foreign body irritation in the throat, , you can remove the foreign body and then treat it with antibiotics.

2. Supportive therapy: It is recommended to use this method for sick dogs with difficulty in eating. Intravenous infusion of 250 ml of 5% glucose and sodium chloride, 1 to 2 times a day; intramuscular injection of 2 ml of complex vitamin B, 1 to 2 times a day. Inject 2 ml of vitamin C intramuscularly, 1 to 2 times a day. Avoid oral administration as much as possible to reduce irritation.

3. Surgical treatment: For dogs with recurrent tonsillitis, tonsillectomy can be performed during the inflammation remission period. For secondary tonsillitis, the primary disease should also be actively treated.

4. Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory: intramuscular injection of 800,000 units of penicillin, twice a day.

5. Local treatment: Apply 2% iodine solution or iodine glycerin locally to the tonsils to reduce inflammation.

Symptoms of tonsil inflammation in dogs

1. Dogs with tonsil inflammation are usually unwilling to eat because of difficulty swallowing due to pain.

2. There will be symptoms of excessive drooling, and some sick dogs may also have symptoms such as coughing, listlessness, and fever.

3. At the same time, the tonsils of the sick dog become enlarged and red, and there are light yellow or white pus spots.

4. Repeated episodes of acute tonsillitis in dogs may evolve into chronic tonsillitis. In this case, the sick dog may have symptoms such as bad breath or reflex dry cough.
