Many diabetic cats develop diabetes after dieting and losing weight. The blood sugar will return to normal values, so maintain the weight of the old cat and avoid giving it unnecessary substances to prevent the occurrence of diabetes. Symptoms of diabetes include eating too much, drinking too much, and urinating too much. Although cats with diabetes eat more, they lose weight. Without immediate treatment, it can lead to coma, vomiting, diarrhea, shortness of breath, weakness, and general paralysis. Your veterinarian can determine whether you have diabetes through blood and urine tests.

The treatment of diabetes includes food control, only low-sugar and high-fiber foods, and insulin injections. Human hypoglycemic drugs can also be used to treat cats when appropriate. Generally, veterinarians will train owners to control the cat's blood sugar concentration by injecting insulin at home.
