False pregnancy is actually a manifestation of hormonal imbalance in cats. Cats that are not pregnant show the same symptoms as pregnancy. Cats in estrus will form a corpus luteum in their ovaries after mating and ovulation. Generally, if the cat is not pregnant, the corpus luteum will disappear quickly. However, if the cat is not pregnant and the corpus luteum in the ovary remains for a long time, it will cause the cat to become pregnant. Cats continue to secrete progesterone and estrogen, causing the cat to experience the same symptoms as when pregnant.

How to judge a cat’s pregnancy:

1. Under normal circumstances, one month after a cat is pregnant, you can feel the enlarged uterus in the cat’s belly and you can feel a spherical shape. The fetus and fetal body of the fetus are not palpable, while those of false pregnancy are invisible.

2. Starting from the 2nd to 3rd week after successful mating, the color of the cat’s nipples will change from light pink to dark pink. Because the hair next to the nipples will fall off, the nipples will appear particularly prominent. After pregnancy, cats will become lazy and not like to move. A newly pregnant cat's appetite will decrease, and as the pregnancy period prolongs, the cat's appetite will gradually increase.

3. After about 15 to 18 days, the female cat’s nipples will begin to change and turn bright pink.

4. Take the cat to the pet hospital to use B-ultrasound to determine whether the cat is pregnant.
