Symptoms of periodontitis in cats:

1. Drooling and bad breath.

2. Unable to chew food vigorously and refuse dry food.

3. The owner performed an oral examination on the cat, but the cat refused.

4. Check the cat’s mouth and you will find that there is calculus on the teeth, the teeth are loose, and the roots of the teeth are swollen and congested.

5. The pain in the cat’s mouth worsens.

Treatment methods for cat periodontitis:

1. Under anesthesia, the animal must first completely scrape off the diseased tartar, including tartar below the gums, and the teeth will be obvious. Loose and severely diseased teeth should be removed.

2. Enlarged gums can be removed with electric cautery or surgical excision.

3. After the teeth have been scraped, polished and necessary extracted, use an ultrasonic scraper to clean the teeth, or rinse directly with normal saline and 0.1% potassium permanganate solution, and coat the gums with 2% Tincture of iodine. Use oral spray for post-operative care and feed soft food.
