Methods to wean dogs

1. Weaning in stages

When the day of weaning comes, force the puppies and the mother to separate directly. Very convenient though. However, it can easily lead to indigestion in puppies, mental stress in large and small dogs, and mastitis in lactating female dogs.

2. Batch weaning

Wean the puppies in batches according to their development and health status. Those who are well developed and physically healthy can be weaned first. Weaning after stunted growth and weak constitution.

3. Gradual weaning

Separate the mother dog and puppies a few days before weaning. After a certain period of time, lock them together and let the puppy nurse. After eating the milk, separate it. Then reduce the number of breast feedings every day until complete weaning.

Precautions for feeding puppies after weaning

1. When the dog is just weaned, the dog food needs to be soaked in warm water before feeding. ,

2. The appropriate number of feedings is about 5 times a day. Only feed 7-8 minutes to full each time. Be sure to avoid overfeeding and adhere to the principle of eating less and more meals.
