Before purchasing a Chow Chow, you must understand some of the most basic knowledge about the Chow Chow. The following is very important for you to read before purchasing.

The Chow Chow originated in China and appeared on the reliefs of the Han Dynasty in ancient China around 150 BC. It has a history of 2,800 years ago.

In 1880, the British envoy in Beijing brought back a pair of Chow Chows and gave them to Queen Victoria and Edward VII. Because of their quietness and elegance, they soon became the pets of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom. In 1894, the British Kennel Club officially recognized this breed and its standards. It was later introduced to China as a police dog and hunting dog, and became a pet of the royal family and nobles.

It was later recognized by kennel clubs around the world, and with its excellent quality, it quickly became one of the most popular dog breeds in the world that is loved and cared for by pet dog lovers from all over the world. Originally introduced from Russia, it is commonly known as the Russian Chow Chow. Its characteristics are: a thick body, a head like a fox dog, and short hair. However, its coat color is pure, with brown-red being the best, and its hair is upright, dense and fine. It was then introduced and improved by the United States and Canada, commonly known as the American Chow Chow. Its characteristics are: small body, big head, short mouth, long head and body hair, but its coat color is not too pure. According to a survey, most Russian Chow Chows in the area south of Shanghai are kept as pets and toy dogs, and most of them are male dogs. In the north, the opposite is true.
