Characteristics of female cats in estrus:

1. Owners will find that normally aloof cats will become more clingy during estrus and like to rub around their owners. Scrubbing around, or lying on the floor twisting around. These are all estrus behaviors.

2. Female cats in estrus often meow. The sounds of cats in estrus will change, some sound like a baby, and some have a very low and hoarse sound.
