Catnip will not cause cats to go into heat. Cats will exhibit estrus-like behaviors after smelling catnip, such as sneezing, chewing, rubbing, rolling, meowing, delirium, etc., but they have nothing to do with direct sexual behavior. Catnip can relieve cats from estrus. For cats who are extremely anxious and nervous, catnip can calm them down and return them to a relaxed state.

Symptoms of cat estrus:

1. When a male cat has a very strong desire to go out during the estrus period, but cannot go out, his temper will change. They become very irritable and restless, start rolling or twisting their bodies, and even become aggressive towards people or other animals, and howl loudly and piercingly late at night.

2. Another sign of a male cat in heat is frequent peeing, and the urine has an unusually strong odor. This is because they are using urine to mark their territory and attract female cats. They want to expand their scent so that more cats of the opposite sex can find it smoothly.

3. Will mount astride a non-estrus female cat or a soft object.

4. Affected by hormones, male cats are prone to emotional disorders during estrus. If there are no female cats around, male cats may not eat.

5. If you hear other female cats meowing or smell other female cats, you will want to leave home and go out to find the female cat. If the owner keeps the male cat indoors and prevents it from going out, it may jump out of windows or buildings in pursuit of a mate.
