Catnip can be used on kittens, but it is recommended that the cat be used after 8 months of age. Cats will sneeze, roll, act coquettishly, and play wildly after smelling or eating catnip. Catnip is not toxic to cats and can be smelled and eaten. Although catnip is a natural and non-toxic plant, zoologists recommend not using it on kittens under 6 months old to avoid causing discomfort. Cats under 3 months old are not sensitive to catnip and have basically no excitement reaction.

Precautions for using catnip:

1. Catnip cannot be used by multiple cats at the same time. The effect of catnip will vary among individuals, some will become extremely excited, some will be very quiet, and some will have no effect; therefore, when there are multiple cats, they should be used separately to avoid mutual harm.

2. Catnip cannot be used on pregnant female cats. Catnip can cause nervous excitement, and pregnant female cats have the risk of inducing uterine contractions and leading to miscarriage, so the use of catnip should be avoided.

3. Catnip should be used with caution when cats are in estrus. Cats in estrus are more sensitive to odors. You can use some products that have a sedative effect on cats. However, if the cat usually has no effect or is very excited, do not use it to avoid aggravating the symptoms of estrus.

4. Catnip should be kept sealed. Catnip should be stored in a sealed jar when not in use to prevent cats from using it on their own.

5. Catnip should be used in an appropriate amount. Although catnip is a natural and non-toxic plant, it should not be abused to avoid over-excitement, injury, running around, etc. Excessive use can cause cats to have difficulty breathing. Frequent use of catnip will make cats immune to catnip, so it is recommended not to exceed once a week.
