Symptoms of cat hernia:

1. When a cat has an umbilical hernia, a spherical bulge of varying sizes appears in the cat’s navel, which is soft to the touch and not red or swollen. There is no heat and pain reaction, and the cat will not feel any discomfort.

2. When a cat has a traumatic abdominal wall hernia, the cat’s ventral side wall or abdominal bottom wall forms a soft flat or hemispherical protrusion with traces of contusion on its surface.

3. When a cat has an inguinal hernia, a round bulge of varying sizes will appear in the groin area on the inner thigh of the cat.

4. When a cat has a perineal hernia, a localized round or oval bulge appears on the side or lower side of the cat’s anus.

Treatment methods for cat hernia:

1. When a cat has an umbilical hernia, it can generally be treated with conservative treatment. Conservative treatment is mainly suitable for hernias that can be repositioned and are not incarcerated. If conservative treatment fails, surgery may be needed.

2. When the cat’s hernia contents cannot be returned to their original position and pain still occurs, surgical incision is required to find the hernia sac, return the contents, and find the peritoneum and abdominal wall muscle layer respectively. Make a new incision and perform continuous sutures after alignment. Then trim the excess skin on the skin layer and suture the nodules.
