Hereditary diseases of Ragdoll cats:

1. HCM hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. There is a genetic disease that is prone to occur in the Ragdoll cat population, which is HCM cardiac hypertrophy. This disease is more likely to occur in inbred Ragdoll cats. Strict screening is always adopted for breeding cats, and the disease genes are eliminated through DNA testing, thus fundamentally eliminating the existence of this disease.

2. Polycystic kidney disease. Many kidney diseases, including polycystic kidney disease, are common in cats, and Ragdolls are among them. The causes of polycystic kidney disease are currently unknown, but genetic, internal, and environmental factors all appear to play a role in the development of the disease.

Precautions for genetic diseases in Ragdoll cats:

1. Be sure to remember to take your cat for regular physical examinations every year. If the cat is older, the time interval can be shortened to half a year or a few months.

2. Don’t be overweight. Overweight will increase the burden on the heart.
