Dogs cannot eat chocolate because chocolate is processed from cocoa beans and contains a variety of methylxanthine derivatives, including caffeine and theobromine. Theobromine in chocolate acts on the dog's central nervous system and heart muscle and can poison the dog. Dogs do not have the enzyme to digest theobromine. Theobromine in chocolate does not break down. It always irritates their nervous system and vascular system, raises their blood pressure, and dogs can vomit or even die.

Tip:

If the dog eats only a trace amount of chocolate by mistake, it will cause diarrhea, vomiting and muscle twitching. If the amount is slightly larger, it can cause epilepsy, and the dog may even die due to damage to the heart and nervous system.
