Cats cannot drink alcohol. Cats’ livers have almost zero ability to metabolize alcohol. Moreover, cats have a very developed nervous system. If they drink alcohol, it may cause irreversible damage to the cat’s nervous system, which can easily lead to acute liver and kidney failure. Cat alcohol poisoning generally has the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, increased thirst, drop in body temperature, hypotension, limb incoordination (drunkenness), convulsions, blindness, coma, death, etc.

What should I do if I drink it accidentally?

1. If the amount is not large and the alcohol content is not high, you can observe it first and trick the cat into drinking water to dilute the ingested alcohol.

2. After drinking a lot, the first thing to do is to contact your pet doctor, or go directly to the nearest pet hospital.

3. Cats may also become addicted simply by the smell of alcohol, so do not leave alcohol where your cat is.
