The shape of a dog’s nose will vary depending on the breed, but it is basically long and strip-shaped. There are two main functions of a dog’s nose. One is to collect smells and breathing in the air, and the other is to dissipate heat. Because the sweat glands on dogs are not well developed, and they can only dissipate heat through their foot pads, nose and mouth.

Tip:

Observing a dog’s nose can also determine whether a dog is healthy. Usually the noses of sick dogs are dry and cracked, while the noses of healthy dogs are moist.
