A cat’s lame leg may not recover on its own.

If it is just caused by cramps, trauma or mild calcium deficiency, the cat can recover on its own.

If it is caused by a fracture, joint disease or severe calcium deficiency, it cannot recover on its own and needs to be sent to a pet hospital for x-ray examination.

Calcium should be given to cats, especially young cats and elderly cats, to avoid calcium deficiency and underdevelopment. You can give them calcium tablets specifically for pets, but not calcium tablets for humans.

Solutions for cat lameness

1. We should first check whether the cat’s legs have skin damage or fractures, and ensure that this will be helpful for future treatment.

2. If we cannot accurately determine the condition of the cat's legs, it is recommended to check the cat lying flat on its legs. If the cat is struggling at this time and can move freely after running to the ground, the cat's legs usually have damaged skin. Leg lameness is also caused by skin damage, which is the best result without bone damage.

3. If we find that the cat cannot walk, or has difficulty walking, it will be even more troublesome. This usually means the cat has a broken bone and there is nothing we can do to help the cat. It is recommended to send the cat to the pet hospital as soon as possible to avoid delaying the development of the disease.
