When dogs, especially puppies, appear listless, have frequent vomiting, diarrhea, bloody stools, etc., they may be infected with canine parvovirus and should be taken to the pet hospital to determine the cause and receive timely treatment. General treatment needs: isolation feeding, fasting and water deprivation, biological agents, and drug treatment.

1. Isolated breeding: Canine parvovirus is highly contagious. In order to prevent the infection from spreading to other dogs, if the disease is discovered, the dog should be kept in isolation immediately. Prevent sick dogs and their keepers from coming into contact with healthy dogs. Use oxidizing disinfectant to repeatedly disinfect the living environment of sick dogs. If conditions permit, you can irradiate ultraviolet light to disinfect the environment.

2. Fasting and water restriction: The gastrointestinal function of sick dogs is severely damaged. Feeding and watering can only increase the burden on the gastrointestinal tract, aggravate the condition, and affect the prognosis. Therefore, sick dogs should strictly control their diet after the onset of the disease, fasting and drinking. Special attention should be paid to oral administration of glucose and sodium chloride, which has no therapeutic significance. Infusions and other methods should be used to provide nutrition to prevent dehydration. Forty-eight hours after the sick dog stops vomiting and diarrhea, you can try to feed it soft dog food, rice porridge and other easily digestible foods, but do not force-feed it.

3. Biological agent treatment:For sick dogs in the early stages of illness, through targeted injection of biological agents such as hyperimmune serum, monoclonal antibodies or interferons, the treatment effect is good and the cure rate is high. Moreover, the cure rate of adult dogs is higher than that of puppies, and the cure rate of cross-bred dogs is higher than that of pedigree dogs. However, the treatment effect is average for the middle and late stages of illness.

4. Conservative treatment with drugs:Because there is no single specific drug for canine parvovirus infection, appropriate medicines will be prescribed according to the symptoms of the disease. The treatment is in the form of infusion, which uses a combination of drugs to stop diarrhea, stop bleeding, reduce inflammation, stop vomiting, replenish fluids, and provide nutrition.
