Parvo is a disease caused by the parvovirus and often affects younger dogs. Dogs usually become infected with parvovirus after coming into contact with animals or objects that carry parvovirus. Symptoms of illness include listlessness, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, elevated body temperature, and blood in the stool in the later stages.

Treatment is based on symptoms and causes. Antidiarrheal and antiemetic drugs are mainly used for vomiting and diarrhea, and viral interferons and monoclonal antibodies are used for viruses.
