How to help expel foreign matter from your dog’s esophagus

There are three ways to remove the foreign body:
1. If the foreign body is small, you can use inducing vomiting to make the dog vomit the foreign body.
2. After endoscopic examination, you can use the endoscope's clip to crush the foreign object and then remove it.
3. When the foreign body is located in the esophagus close to the stomach, if the foreign body is not a sharp object, it can be pushed into the stomach and then gastrotomy is performed to remove the foreign body.
If foreign objects damage or injure the esophagus, it may cause esophageal rupture, which may lead to pneumothorax and death of the dog. If it is a non-sharp object, it usually recovers quite well after surgery.
