Dog cramps and stiffness

Dog cramps and stiffness are symptoms of epilepsy. Dog epilepsy is a sudden and recurring short-term abnormal brain function disease caused by dysfunction of the great cortex. Epilepsy is divided into primary epilepsy and secondary epilepsy. Primary epilepsy is congenital and is more common in hunting dogs such as shepherds and Labrador retrievers. Secondary epilepsy is caused by other diseases.

Primary epilepsy: a congenital brain disorder in which sick dogs have no special medical history. Commonly seen in German shepherds, poodles, Irish setters, Labrador retrievers, etc.
Secondary epilepsy: Epilepsy secondary to other diseases. Sick dogs have infectious diseases such as encephalitis, meningitis, brain parasites, metabolic diseases, endocrine dysfunction, chemical poisoning, canine distemper, etc.

Symptoms of epilepsy in dogs

The dog is restless, suddenly lying down, twitching limbs, incontinence, loss of consciousness, excessive salivation, and dilated pupils. The sick dog returns to normal after a while or ataxia. It relapsed again after some time.
