Causes of acute gastric volvulus in dogs

Is gastric torsion dangerous in dogs?

Symptoms of gastric torsion in dogs

1. The dog has shortness of breath, gasps for air, and drools excessively.
2. Vomiting symptoms occur, accompanied by swallowing movements.
3. The abdomen is bulging and painful, with back arching and defecation symptoms.
4. The oral mucosa appears pale and the dog is confused.
5. Because blood cannot be supplied to the stomach and spleen in time, the dog may go into shock.

How to prevent gastric torsion in dogs

1. Let the dog eat small meals frequently. Try to feed the dog several meals a day instead of one big meal a day to prevent the dog from being too hungry. And wolf it down;

2. After giving your dog a full meal, try not to let it do strenuous exercise. Vigorous exercise, especially for deep-chested dogs, will greatly increase the risk of bloating and gas accumulation;

3. Do not let your dog eat garbage or other foods that will make it bloated. Do not raise the dog's food bowl. When the dog's food bowl is raised, it will increase the dog's eating speed, causing the dog to easily eat air and cause gastric bloating, which indirectly increases the dog's chance of suffering from gastric volvulus.
