Tooth Decay

Dogs can also suffer from tooth decay. The cause of tooth decay in dogs is the accumulation of food residues in the mouth, and then bacteria use the food residues as nutrients to continue to grow. While the bacteria multiply, they also produce an acidic substance. When this acidic substance comes into contact with the teeth, it will slowly dissolve the calcium in the teeth and form dental caries, which is tooth decay. Tooth decay can cause pain in your dog’s gums, tooth necrosis, and a significant loss of appetite.

Broken teeth

Dogs naturally like to chew on objects. Sometimes the objects they chew on are too hard, which can cause the dog’s teeth to wear out or even break. Some more active dogs may break their teeth due to running around, and other dogs may also develop this problem as they age.

Sublingual abscess

If the salivary glands under the dog’s tongue are blocked, a large fluid-filled lump will appear on the underside of the dog’s tongue. This is a sublingual abscess. If the owner finds that his dog has a sublingual abscess, he should immediately take the dog to the hospital for surgery to drain the fluid.
