What are the symptoms of heat stroke

Heat stroke is a fatal emergency characterized by high temperature and impaired consciousness. When a dog gets heat stroke, the body temperature will rise sharply to 41-42°C, shortness of breath leading to difficulty breathing, rapid heartbeat, nausea, vomiting and other symptoms. If not treated in time, the dog's kidney function will soon fail, manifesting as spasms, convulsions or lethargy.

First aid measures for heat stroke in dogs

The owner should lower the dog's body temperature as soon as possible and shower the dog's body with cold water. Never use ice water, which will prolong the cooling time. When a dog is in a coma due to severe heat stroke shock, first wet it with ice water or wrap the whole body with an ice towel. You can also wipe it with alcohol to cool down, or pour cold water from the anus into the rectum, and then send it to the doctor as soon as possible.
