The first step in cleaning Labrador’s ears: Check

First, check the outside of the ears for tangled hair and parasites. Check for garbage and dirt in the ear canal. A small amount of dirt accumulation is normal, but if you find a large amount of reddish-brown or streaky odorous earwax, it means there is something wrong with your Labrador's ears. The dog may have ear inflammation or other diseases, which requires treatment by a doctor. It is best for the owner not to deal with it on his own.

The second step in cleaning Labrador’s ears: Trim the ear hair

The ear hair in the ear canal will accumulate dirt and moisture, causing bacteria to multiply faster and easily lead to infection. If the ear hair is too long, the owner can pluck it out directly. Open the dog's ears, pour a little ear powder into it, then close the ears and rub the roots of the ears to spread the ear powder evenly between the ear hairs. The function of ear powder is to increase the friction between ear hairs, making the ear hairs easy to pull out. After the ear powder is dispersed, use a hemostat to clamp a small amount of ear hair and pull it out quickly. Don't clamp too much at one time, otherwise the dog will be in pain. In this way, gradually pull out the ear hair.

The third step of cleaning Labrador’s ears: Clean the ears

Open the dog’s ears, put 3-5 drops of ear cleaning water into the ears, and hold the mouth to prevent the dog from cleaning the ears. Shake out the ear water. After washing the ears with water, close the ears and rub and squeeze the roots of the ears for 1-2 minutes. After the massage is completed, use hemostatic forceps wrapped with cotton to wipe the ear cleaning water clean from the ears. You can also use cotton swabs. During the wiping process, you must be gentle and be careful not to hurt the dog's ears. After wiping the ear cleaning solution, some dogs will still have excess secretions remaining in their ears. You can directly drop the ear cleaning water on the hemostatic forceps wrapped with cotton, and wipe again with the hemostatic forceps dripping with ear cleaning solution until until clean.
