Dogs cannot eat chocolate, onions, grapes and other foods. Eating these foods can cause the dog to die in serious cases. Once the dog eats these foods by mistake, it may cause blood in the urine. Female dogs can reach maturity 6-12 months after birth. After sexual maturity, they normally go into estrus twice a year, mostly once each from March to May in spring and September to November in autumn. During the female dog's estrus period, the vagina begins to swell, harden, become flushed, and is accompanied by bloody red mucus. Therefore, blood in the urine of dogs may be because they are in estrus.
