Canine enteritis parvosymptoms

The incubation period of this disease is 3-5 days, and it mostly occurs in dogs that have just changed their environment. Bathing and overfeeding are triggers. The symptoms from mild to severe at the beginning of the disease generally do not exceed 2 days, and the entire course of the disease generally does not exceed a week.
1. Dogs with enteritis show depression, anorexia, occasional fever, soft stools, and mild vomiting in the early stages of the disease, and then develop into frequent vomiting and severe diarrhea.
2. At first, the feces is grey, yellow or milky white with jelly-like mucus, followed by foul-smelling soy sauce or tomato juice-like bloody stools.
3. Sick dogs will show rapid dehydration, weight loss, sunken eye sockets, messy coat, inelastic skin, and cold ears, nose, and limbs. Dogs are highly depressed and can easily lead to shock and death.

Myocarditis-type canine parvovirus symptoms

Myocarditis-type canine parvovirus is more common in puppies aged 4-6 weeks, and there are basically no premonitory symptoms.
Puppies may present with mild diarrhea, and then the puppy suddenly becomes weak and moans. Puppies have cyanotic mucous membranes, extremely difficult breathing, a fast and weak pulse, and a murmur on heart auscultation, possibly due to acute respiratory depression, and often die within a few hours.
The autopsy showed dilation of the heart and pale streaks on the myocardium, gross signs of congestive heart failure.

Precautions for dogs getting canine parvovirus

1. Canine parvovirus has very strong resistance to the outside world, has a long survival time, and is very contagious. Therefore, once a dog is found to be sick, it should be isolated immediately, utensils and kennels contaminated by the sick dog should be disinfected, and the breeder should also disinfect.
2. Vaccine immunization is the fundamental measure to prevent dogs from contracting canine parvovirus. Remember to take your dog for regular vaccinations.
