(1) Disinfect the rectal thermometer with alcohol and adjust the temperature to zero.

(2) Apply a small amount of Vaseline on one end of the rectal thermometer for lubrication. If Vaseline is not available, purified water can be used instead.

(3) It is recommended to test the dog while he is sleeping or lying down, so as not to cause strong resistance from the dog. It is best to have one person help comfort the Samoyed and distract the Samoyed while one person takes the temperature.

(4) Put one end of the rectal thermometer into the rectum about 2cm, remember not to exceed 3cm.
