What will happen when a golden retriever is about to give birth? Before giving birth, a golden retriever will appear restless, constantly scratching the floor and mats with its front feet, and making nest-building movements. It will not eat within 24 hours before giving birth, or only choose a small amount of favorite food to eat; some will vomit slightly before giving birth. Then the body temperature will gradually decrease, and the closer it is to delivery, the lower it will be. It may drop to about 36°C 24 hours before delivery.

When the above signs appear, the owner must be ready to deliver the baby at any time.

1. Prepare clean scissors, towels, basins, iodine and fluoride, disinfectant cotton and hot water that is readily available.

2. For indoor dogs, place a shallow and wide thick cardboard box in a place where it can sleep peacefully, put old clothes or old cotton pads inside, and put two bath towels on top. For outdoor dogs, hay or rags should be laid in the kennel as softly as possible. In winter, all doors and windows should be closed tightly to keep the delivery room warm to prevent colds during delivery.

3. It is best for the delivery room to be far away from the door or any entrance or exit that can be entered and exited at will. The quietest place at home should be chosen. At the same time, it should be considered that production may occur at night, so 20-watt lighting should be prepared. On one side of the delivery room, an incubator should be prepared for the puppy, which should be covered with thick and soft towels and kept at a certain temperature in winter.

4. The delivery room should be ventilated as much as possible in summer, and attention should be paid to the prevention of lice, fleas and mosquitoes.

5. The bedding of the delivery bed should be kept dry and exposed to the sun frequently.

6. If possible, keep in touch with your pet doctor and ask him for help in an emergency.

7. You can reserve chicken, pig's trotters, red pond and other soup ingredients to make soup after or during childbirth to promote postpartum lactation in Golden Retriever dogs.
