The cat’s amniotic water has broken but the cat has not given birth for more than five hours. You need to take the cat to the pet hospital immediately for midwifery. Generally, this situation occurs mainly due to the cat's inability to give birth, excessive size of the fetus in the body, or abnormal fetal position. In the case of inability to produce, the cat needs to be injected with oxytocin and then fed with glucose, etc. For cases where the fetus is too large or is in an abnormal position, caesarean section can only be used for assisted delivery.

Precautions for female cats to prevent dystocia:

1. In the early stages of pregnancy, while feeding cat food, give a certain amount of chicken breast, lean beef or canned food and other nutrients. Richer foods ensure the nutrients needed for fetal development.

2. In the later stages of pregnancy, female cats can only be fed cat food and a small amount of chicken breast. Food with higher nutritional value should be fed less to avoid dystocia caused by overlarge fetuses.

3. Go to the hospital for a pregnancy check-up around 45 days into pregnancy to avoid stillbirth, abnormal fetal position, etc. Female cats cannot be deliberately allowed to lose weight during pregnancy, and the intake of more nutritious foods can only be appropriately controlled.
