Ringworm is a fungal skin infection in dogs caused by Microsporum canis.

【Symptoms】

About 70% of tinea pedis is caused by Microsporum canis, and 20% is caused by Microsporum gypsum. Large lesions often appear as annular scaly spots with damaged hair roots remaining in the lesions, or complete hair loss within the annular spots. The course of the disease is the most active in the same periphery of the lesions, and may contain blisters or small pustules. In severe infections, hair loss, erythema, or scabs may occur over large areas of the body.

【Treatment】

The first treatment is griseofulvin. , this drug can inhibit the development of fungi in the deepest hairy roots. Applying iodine lotion to the whole body on the seventh and fourteenth days of treatment with antifungal or griseofulvin can reduce or eliminate the spread of infection to other parts of the body or to other animals or people. After clinical recovery, some hair on the skin may still harbor viable bacteria, so it is best to trim the hair to remove the ultimate source of infection.
