Golden Retriever Shearing Time

If the owner has decided to shave the Golden Retriever, it should be done 2 to 4 weeks before the high temperature comes. Don’t wait until the heat hits. Because it takes 2 to 4 weeks for the dog's hair to grow short, so when the hot weather arrives, even if the air conditioner is turned on, the golden retriever will not catch a cold because of the lack of hair.

Precautions during the golden retriever shearing process

1. If you are shearing in a pet hospital, you should choose a relatively secluded place. Do not let strangers watch, which will hurt the dog's self-esteem. If you are cutting your hair at home, try not to let other dogs see it, so as not to cause fear in the dog. ​
2. If during the shaving process, you find that your golden retriever is extremely uncooperative, be sure to stop and rest before shaving. Do not force it.
3. Do not cut the hair on the limbs, paws, and face of golden retriever dogs.

Precautions after shearing the golden retriever

1. Don’t laugh at your dog because it will hurt your golden retriever’s self-esteem.
2. Lay out a blanket where the golden retriever sleeps. Do not let the newly-shorn golden retriever sleep on the floor.
3. After the golden retriever is trimmed, the owner needs to pay attention to home hygiene to avoid contracting skin diseases due to the loss of hair protection.
