Symptoms of heat stroke in dogs

When a dog appears to be panting rapidly, restless, barking and drooling, there are already signs of heat stroke. Then it will have difficulty breathing, raise its head and neck to breathe, or its eyes will be dull. If appropriate treatment is not done at this time, the dog will go into shock, become comatose, and eventually die. To determine whether a dog has had heat stroke, in addition to judging by its external behavior and reactions, the owner can also judge by touching or observing. For example, whether the dog is in a hot or high temperature environment, and whether the body temperature is much higher than usual. Or look at the hairless part of the dog's abdomen to see if the skin is flushed, bleeding spots, blood spots, etc. These may be signs of heat stroke.

Dog is restless

If your dog has mild heatstroke, such as drooling, panting, and restlessness. It is necessary to loosen the collar and harness and lower the ambient temperature. Move the pet to a cool place or give it an electric fan or air conditioner to cool it down, and then give it an appropriate amount of water to slowly recover.

Dog has difficulty breathing

If your dog has difficulty breathing and appears sluggish. You need to wet your pet's body with water first, or half-immerse it in water. Generally, water from the faucet will suffice, and you will be sent to the hospital immediately after emergency treatment.

Dog in shock and coma

If the dog has symptoms of shock and coma, first wet it with ice water or wrap the dog's whole body with a towel. You can also wipe it with alcohol to cool it down, or remove it from the anus. Pour cold water into the rectum and take the dog to the hospital as soon as possible. On the way to the hospital, be sure to lower the dog's head and straighten its neck to keep the dog breathing smoothly and prevent vomiting.
