It evaporates from the inner surface and helps cool down the body through panting and breathing to achieve temperature control.

Symptoms of heatstroke in dogs

Dogs with heatstroke will have difficulty breathing and look out of breath. Its body temperature will continue to rise, even to above 40°C. The dog's heartbeat and breathing speed accelerate, it begins to salivate continuously, and it appears weak or distracted. The dog has diarrhea or vomiting. Dogs with severe heatstroke may suffer from seizures.

Methods to prevent heat stroke in dogs

1. In hot weather, dogs are likely to become dehydrated. If your dog is going to be outdoors in hot weather for a long time, you must make sure they have fresh, clean water to drink, rehydrate appropriately and frequently, and take frequent breaks in the shade.
2. In summer, choose the coolest morning or evening of the day for outdoor activities. However, if the outdoor temperature reaches around 32°C or even higher, it is recommended to stay indoors.
3. Short-muzzled dogs have a long trachea, so the efficiency of panting to dissipate heat is relatively low, so special attention must be paid.
4. Never leave your dog alone in the car, because your driver’s seat will quickly become a fatal heat oven, even if you open the windows to allow air circulation, it may happen to your dog. Heat stroke or serious illness.
