Chihuahua pregnancy cycle

Counted from the date of successful mating and fertilization, the gestation period of Chihuahua is about 60 days. Chihuahuas mature sexually relatively early, so it would be more appropriate to breed them after their second estrus. Once the Chihuahua becomes pregnant, the owner needs to take care and safety precautions, and be more careful about the diet to avoid accidental miscarriage of the dog.

Symptoms of Chihuahua Pregnancy

About 1 week after the dog has been mated and successfully fertilized, the Chihuahua’s vagina will have obvious contraction symptoms, which can be directly observed with the naked eye. When you are 3 to 4 weeks pregnant, your Chihuahua's breasts will become very large and the nipples will turn pink. After 4 weeks of pregnancy, a small placenta the size of an egg can be felt in the dog's abdomen. Gradually, the dog will also show symptoms such as laziness and love to eat.

Precautions for Chihuahua Pregnancy

1. Take your Chihuahua out to bask in the sun and walk around appropriately. When exercising, be careful not to allow female dogs to run fast, jump, etc. to avoid conflicts with other dogs.
2. Chihuahuas need to be dewormed with drugs for about one month of pregnancy to avoid infecting the fetus and puppies. But avoid feeding too much anthelmintics, otherwise it may cause miscarriage.
3. After the female dog becomes pregnant, the dog’s diet should be improved, the nutrition should be richer, and the amount of food should be increased appropriately.
