When should Samoyed dogs be dewormed? Samoyeds should be dewormed for the first time 20-30 days after birth; after the first deworming, deworming should be done every 2-4 weeks, and every 3 months between 6-12 months of age. Deworming is done once every month, and every six months after 1 year old. Samoyeds can be dewormed one month after birth, and once every three months after birth.

 1. Internal deworming

Under normal circumstances, Samoyed puppies should be dewormed for the first time 20 to 30 days after birth, before vaccination. Levamisole, albendazole, ivermectin or abamectin can be taken orally or injected. Then carry out deworming every quarter. Adult Samoyeds should generally be dewormed once a quarter. Broad-spectrum anthelmintics are generally used, and albendazole is commonly used. When deworming, it should be noted that the dose of the drug must be appropriate and cannot be too large or too small. Too large a dose may easily cause poisoning, while too small a dose cannot achieve the purpose of deworming.

From the first deworming to 6 months ago, deworm every 2-4 weeks. From 6 months to 1 year old, deworm every 3 months. After 1 year old, deworm every six months, or go to the hospital for check-up and deworm in time if necessary. It is recommended that internal deworming and vaccination should not be performed at the same time, otherwise they may interact with each other and lead to vaccine failure. Under normal circumstances, vaccination should be given first and then internal deworming.

 2. External deworming

Generally speaking, the first external deworming can be performed when the Samoyed grows to about one month old. Moreover, the first external deworming can be carried out at the same time as the vaccine, and there will be no impact between them.

As for external insecticides, there are two types: drops and sprays. Owners can purchase them according to the actual situation of their Samoyed. External deworming is usually performed every three months. But if your Samoyed goes out often, it is recommended to do so once every one to two months. If the dog does not go out often and pays great attention to hygiene, the medication time can be extended.
