How to toilet train a Satsuma? Put the Satsuma in a cage before training, and take it out of the cage to defecate at a fixed time every day to develop a habit; or spread newspapers or diapers on the floor, and when the Satsuma shows signs of defecation, guide it to the designated place; When it defecates correctly, reward it, criticize it severely when it poops, and clean the soiled area thoroughly.

1. Cage training method

A cage is necessary for indoor training. Samoyed dogs should have a comfortable place to rest, but they should not be locked in a cage for life. For Satsuma indoor training, 2 weeks of restricted freedom in the cage means lifelong freedom of movement in the house. Feed the dog in the cage and then take the Border Collie out to relieve himself within a reasonable amount of time. Then put it back in the cage and give it toys and blankets until the next defecation time comes. For puppies, this time should not exceed 2 hours. For adult dogs, no more than 4 hours.

Satsuma does not like to defecate in the areas where he plays and sleeps. The crate should have enough room for the dog to stand and turn around, but not so big that he can squat on the side to relieve himself. Once your Border Collie's indoor training is complete, leave the cage door open. This will be a great place for your Border Collie to relax and rest.

 2. Newspaper training method

If you live in an apartment and it is not convenient to take your Satsuma to defecate outdoors, then you need to carry out "newspaper training". The training method is to spread newspapers on the floor of relatively closed spaces, such as kitchens or bathrooms. After the dog defecates on the newspapers, replace the dirty newspapers. After a few days, remove part of the newspapers to expose part of the ground. If your dog defecates on the bare ground, correct him gently, then place him on the newspaper and praise him. Once it has a little bit of the concept of defecating on the newspaper, gradually remove more and more newspapers until you finally leave a small area where you want it to defecate.

 3. Outbound training method

Take your puppy out as often as possible. Puppies need to poop frequently. Especially 15 to 20 minutes after eating. As it gets older, this time may become longer. If you observe signs of defecation, such as whining softly or running in circles, take the Border Collie outdoors as soon as possible. When it has finished defecating outside, immediately praise its behavior, using your favorite words (preferably a fixed word). Then play with it for a while before taking it home. The Samoyed puppy will gradually understand that defecating outdoors can win praise and the opportunity to play outdoors.
