What is considered good appearance of a Yorkshire Terrier? A purebred Yorkshire Terrier is about 23cm tall at the shoulder, weighs no more than 3.2kg, has a petite and even body shape; a small head, a flat top, small and erect ears, almond-shaped eyes, medium size, and a sharp nose. It is black; its limbs are straight, perpendicular to the ground when standing, its feet are relatively rounded, and its nails are black.

 1. Body shape

The shoulder height is about 23cm and the weight does not exceed 3.2kg. The physique is strong and well-proportioned, the bones are not hypertrophy, and the back is straight. The head is small and flat at the top, and the skull cannot be bulging or arched. The muzzle should not be too long, the pet dog should not have an overshot bite or a undershot bite, and the teeth should be strong. A scissor bite or a pincer bite is acceptable.

 2. Face

The nose is black. The eyes are medium in size, not prominent; dark and bright in color, revealing a sharp and intelligent gaze. The eye rims are dark in color. The ears are small, V-shaped, upright, and the base of the ears should not be too far apart. Neck, topline, and body are compact in proportion.

 3. Limbs

The front legs are straight and the elbows turn neither in nor out. The hind legs are straight when viewed from the rear and the stifles are well angled when viewed from the side. If the hind legs have dewclaws, they must be removed, and if the front legs have dewclaws, they can be removed. The feet are round and the nails are black.

 4.Tail

The tail is docked in the middle and covered with long hair. It is kept lower than the back and the tail heel is high.

 5. Hair

The hair on a good-looking Yorkie’s tail is very rich and medium-length. The length of the hair on the top, sides and bottom is basically the same, like a fox’s tail, just below the topline. The Yorkie’s tail is not curled around the body when it is raised. neither side nor lying flat on the back. The coat should be double and of medium length, giving the appearance of a dense coat, but not so long that it obscures the Yorkie's clear outline. The undercoat is soft, dense, and long enough to support the outer coat. The coarse outer coat of hair is straight, smooth and lying, not rough or erect.
