Prevention and treatment measures for dog urticaria

1. The cause should be identified as soon as possible and symptomatic treatment should be given.
2. Desensitization therapy: use antihistamine drugs, injection of benzene hydrochloride 2 to 4 ml per kilogram of body weight, orally or intramuscularly, twice a day. Chlorpheniramine is taken orally at 4 to 8 mg each time, twice a day. Astamine and dexamethasone also have better effects.
3. For those with itchy skin, prednisone 0.5-2.0 mg/kg body weight or dexamethasone 0.10-0.25 mg/kg body weight can be injected intramuscularly, twice a day.
4. For those with asthma, atropine 0.05 mg/kg body weight and dexamethasone 0.10-0.25 mg/kg body weight can be injected intramuscularly.
5. Antihistamine ointment or corticosteroid ointment can be applied to the local skin, such as Focinolone, Weifukangjiu ointment, etc., which have an anti-itching effect.

Causes of urticaria in dogs

1. Its pathogenesis can be immune or non-immune.
2. Common causes of urticaria include: food and additives, drug infection, physical factors, visceral diseases, mental factors, genetic factors, etc.

Symptoms of urticaria in dogs

1. Sudden itching or papules with clear boundaries appear on the skin.
2. It first occurs on the face, around the eye circles, and corners of the mouth, and then on the back, neck, and medial thighs. In severe cases, it also occurs on the visible mucosa.
3. Papules usually subside within 1 to 2 days. There are also cases that become chronic and subside after a few weeks or months.
4. Some sick dogs are accompanied by varying degrees of shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat, elevated body temperature, gastrointestinal disorders, vomiting and other systemic symptoms.
